(FORT WAYNE, Indiana) OmniSource, one of the largest processors and distributors of scrap and secondary metals in North America, has chosen to implement the TransWorks Transportation Management System (TMS)/Supply Chain Execution (SCE) solution, it was announced today.
TransWorks solutions have a proven record of reducing transportation costs, automating processes and improving departmental efficiency. "OmniSource is committed to exceeding customer requirements with regard to on-time pickups and deliveries," said Chris Skidmore, Transportation Manager at OmniSource. "We demand a reliable TMS platform that enables consistent, repeatable results, and transactional visibility of the order-to-dispatch-to-customer process. TransWorks provides that," said Skidmore.
Skidmore expects that the Software as a Service (SaaS) solution delivered by TransWorks will enable improved end-to-end supply chain collaboration, and real-time responses, thus giving OmniSource a competitive transportation advantage. "The SaaS model is a transactional cost that allows us to meet our Return On Investment (ROI) requirements without investing capital for a software purchase, and it also avoids maintenance costs," said Skidmore.
TransWorks is a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern, which has provided On-Demand TMS solutions to many of the largest companies in the world since 2001. More information can be found by visiting www.trnswrks.com.
